Rakesh Sarkar, PhD
Postdoctoral ResearcherI obtained my PhD from the National Institute of Cholera and Enteric Diseases at the University of Calcutta, studying rotavirus-host interactions. I found that rotavirus relocalizes and repurposes components of the cellular DNA damage response to build viral replication compartments, as well as subverts the nonsense mediated decay pathway to protect viral RNA from destruction. In the G-lab, I’m interested in discovering host factors critical for KSHV replication and gene regulation.
