The Li Ka Shing Center is a new sustainable environmentally designed building on the UC Berkeley Campus dedicated to research with a focus on the molecular mechanisms underlying human disease. The center features state-of-the-art instrumentation, student and postdoctoral interaction suites, and wide variety of interdisciplinary research. The top floor is devoted to infectious disease laboratories, and houses a biosafety level 3 facility. In addition to our work on gammaherpesviruses, neighboring labs are performing research on HIV, dengue virus, and tuberculosis. The building also houses the Henry Wheeler Center for Emerging and Neglected Diseases (CEND).
